About Rachel Mattis, LPC
Hi! My name is Rachel Mattis and I am so glad that you have taken this courageous step. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults working through difficult life moments and transitions. I specialize in issues pertaining to perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, and high-sensitivity, particularly as these issues may be rooted in obvious or complex childhood trauma. I realize that no two people are the same, and therapy with me is tailored to meet your specific needs and preferences as an individual. l am passionate about helping you understand the things that are holding you back with an in-depth approach to increase your insight and self-awareness of formative experiences, dysfunctional behavioral patterns, and internalized beliefs and cognitive messages. After recognizing these underlying factors, you can more fully realize your strengths and values, and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things in a different, healthier way.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of Florida (Go Gators!), and my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida. I gained my clinical experience in a variety of clinical settings, including the community mental health clinic on campus during my graduate studies, adolescent substance abuse residential treatment, school-based individual and group counseling services for high-school students, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, and adolescent mental health residential treatment before transitioning to the private practice setting.
I am based in Austin, Texas, but am available for telehealth throughout the state of Texas.
